The Aesthetic Cad/Cam Interface

Description:
Computer aided design and computer aided manufacture has been involved in Dentistry for many years. Since the 1980’s we have been trying to produce in-surgery porcelain restorations with considerable variation in success. Common criticisms of this technique have been poor fits, poor aesthetics and poor occlusal control. Dr Julian Caplan has been involved in developing techniques utilizing this constantly changing technology to overcome these short falls. He has now reached a position where he is able to create beautiful, well fitting multiple restorations that allow proper functional control and he achieves this in a single day. This lecture will concentrate on Cerec technology and how he has utilized this over the last 10 years to producing highly aesthetic smile makeovers in a day.

The primary and some secondary anatomy is detailed in the provisionals either from the wax up or by recontouring the temporaries. The tertiary anatomy is place by hand post-milling. I recommend doing your own wax-ups to really get a handle on the case - predominately additive where ever possible

David Bakhouche - (5/11/2014 1:59 PM)

Hi, congratulations for your cases! Just a question about the finishing steps : before stains and glazure, do you modify the macrogeography of the crown facial aspect with burs (to make concavity for example)? Best regards, dr BAKHOUCHE

Interdisciplinary Dentistry: Distilling Complex Patient Management Down to Fundamental Steps
The interaction between different specialties is a common treatment modality in patients with severely mutilated dentitions as well as in those with more limited clinical conditions but with high esthetic demands. Comprehending Maxillofacial Anatomy and Related Pathology with CBCT Premium Member Content

Comprehending Maxillofacial Anatomy and Related Pathology with CBCT
The advent of CBCT has brought a great deal of excitement to the dental professionals. For the first time, we have a diagnostic tool which has overcome the known disadvantages of the traditional projectional dental diagnostic images (periapical and panoramic radiographs) with the provision of sharp sectional images at any desired plane (multiplannar imaging). However, the interpretation of these images is somewhat challenging mainly due to the anatomical complexity of the maxillofacial region and the lack of familiarity of the profession with multiplannar imaging. This course will review in detail the anatomy of the certain challenging sites (neck, paranasal sinuses etc) of maxillofacial region and discuss the related pathological entities. Often times these may be simply incidental findings fact that raises the degree of the responsibility of the dental professional.

Oral Pyogenic Granuloma in Pregnancy
An oral pyogenic granuloma can develop immediately following the first trimester of pregnancy. Usually an oral pyogenic granuloma is a slow-growing mass that does not, upon excision, leave a large defect in the periodontium requiring surgical repair. However an oral pyogenic granuloma often grows into a large mass in the gravid female, which generally emanates from a stalk, originating at an interdental gingival papilla. Although such lesions are commonly known as 'pregnancy tumors' or 'pregnancy epulides',…
