This presentation will cover detailed concepts of diagnosis and treatment planning using state-of-the-art 3-D imaging modalities for the purpose of customizing therapy based on individual implant receptor sites. In addition, specific suggestions on incorporating new and innovative design features into your treatment design to achieve higher degrees of esthetic success as well as ease of use in the surgical or prosthetic phase will be discussed. These will include new surface treatments such as the implant micro-geometry, Laser-Lok microchannels, narrow diameter implants, as well as when to use straight vs. tapered implant designs.

To Dr. Schwab - Thanks for your comment... This particular presentation was partially sponsored by BioHorizons, and therefore this was the system that was highlighted - specific to the design of coronal microchannels. I have utilized 18 different implant systems over the course of 28 years... and it is my hope that the concepts presented would be easily transferred to various other systems - based upon what you may be using in your practice. I felt that it might be confusing to present several systems - as each has some unique features that may require further explanation. The key here is how to achieve "true restoratively driven implant reconstruction" with proper diagnosis and treatment planning - incorporating the implant and the abutment design in the decision making process. Orientation of the anti-rotational feature is important to link the implant to the abutment correctly... regardless of which implant system you may use. So to avoid confusion, I just illustrated an internal hexagon connection, and then showed specific design applications for abutments and implants to diagnose and treatment plan in this short one hour presentation. The concept of microgap would take another hour at least, and that was really not the goal of this presentation. Perhaps I can cover that in a future presentation to answer your specific questions regarding that important issue. Thanks for watching!

I believe that Dr jades his credibility by just featuring one system. i would have liked had he spent more time on microgap, and actual research that verifies the validity of the gap that exists in immediate placement between the implant and the bone,how it fills over various timelines and whether these wider implants are at all necessary

The Management of Immediate Implant Placement to Optimize Aesthetic Outcome in the Anterior Maxilla
Following tooth extraction the implant surgeon may select between various implant placement timing and loading protocols. Ideally these are to be determined prior to extraction, be it immediate, early, or late placement. Immediate implant placement even in the aesthetic zone is a literature supported treatment modality with success comparable to alternative placement protocols. Meticulous restorative treatment planning of a tooth destined for extraction is essential. Selecting the appropriate implant and techniques may preserve and ensure natural aesthetics. Utilizing the patient’s own tooth crown can better provisionalize the implant with a ‘walk out as you walk in’ result.
