The Evolution of Site Management for Implant Placement

Description:
During the last 20 years we have experience in Periodontics and Implantology a large amount of research and clinical cases that have aloud us to better understand how the Extraction and Implant Site behave. The Evolution of Site Management for Implant Placement goes to what we consider the most critical factors that influence our results in todays practice. The presentation goes through the evidence based alternatives and how this have changed with time. We also go through the Socket Shield alternative and present some of what we consider the future on this area will be.

Manuel and Angel, Great job on this presentation. I found it to be very complete. I have recently researched the literature on these concepts and you have presented some studies I was unfamiliar with. I have several articles to review now. As you know, I am presenting this same concept soon and your review has challenged me to do a be as complete as you have been.

“My First Implant”: Conservative Management of a Failing Posterior Maxillary Tooth
In this 2 Part video case report, “conservative” management of a failing premolar in the posterior maxilla is managed by a Dentist beginner placing their first dental implant at a course at the DentalXP Center in Atlanta. Atraumatic Management of the Extraction Site utilizing Ultrasonic Surgery, Extractor elevators and followed by Socket Grafting with PRGF and mineralized bone allograft is featured in Part 1. Flap Reflection, Drilling sequence, 3D placement of the implant, and simple suturing is highlighted in Part 2. The follow up and evaluation of the healing of the socket graft displayed significant bone volume for implant placement in this conservative staged approach for the “beginner” in Implant Dentistry.

Tipping the Needle in Implant Dentistry Premium Member Content

Tipping the Needle in Implant Dentistry
New materials, new implant designs, smarter surfaces, computer software and much more are helping us push the boundaries of what we thought “possible” in implant dentistry. Osseointegration is no longer in question. In this webinar Dr. Stanley will show you how 3D guided surgery improved the surgical time and outcome; how new regeneration materials like a- PRF and i-PRF are revolutionizing hound healing and soft tissue management; how immediate loading can be a simple procedure but most of all, how to use the best materials and technology to improve your surgical skills. By presenting some selected clinical cases, Dr. Stanley will show you what can be done with careful planning and execution in clinical implantology.

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics Premium Member Content

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics
The principle focus of implant dentistry has changed significantly from the era of ‘Anatomically driven implant placement’ to the current practice of ‘Restoration driven implant placement’. When we now look at the failing dentition in the aesthetic zone we now must immediately consider conversion to implants. We are continually seeking greater control of the peri-implant tissues and ultimately the aesthetics of the restoration. Implant/abutment designs allow us to consider immediate implant replacement, and immediate non-functional loading especially in the aesthetic zone, where preservation of hard and soft tissue is of paramount importance in order follow the principles of aesthetics by maintaining the elements which are already there

Managing Esthetic Implant Complications Premium Member Content

Managing Esthetic Implant Complications
Dental implant success today is judged not only by osseointegration but also by bone, tissue stability and of course long term esthetic results. Cosmetic predictability can often be difficult to attain, and esthetic implant failures can be multifactorial and patient management issues. Once esthetic implant failures occur, many cannot be fully corrected. Some complications must be addressed by an interdisciplinary dental team. In this summary of case reports, surgical considerations are provided, including cases of facial asymmetry/recession due to facial implant placement or bone loss resulting from technique/treatment failures, as well as papillary deficiencies. Restorative considerations for correcting failures are also discussed.

The Management of Immediate Implant Placement to Optimize Aesthetic Outcome in the Anterior Maxilla
Following tooth extraction the implant surgeon may select between various implant placement timing and loading protocols. Ideally these are to be determined prior to extraction, be it immediate, early, or late placement. Immediate implant placement even in the aesthetic zone is a literature supported treatment modality with success comparable to alternative placement protocols. Meticulous restorative treatment planning of a tooth destined for extraction is essential. Selecting the appropriate implant and techniques may preserve and ensure natural aesthetics. Utilizing the patient’s own tooth crown can better provisionalize the implant with a ‘walk out as you walk in’ result.

Prosthetic Gingival Reconstruction in a Fixed Partial Restoration - Part 1: Introduction to Artificial Gingiva as an Alternative Therapy
The Class III defect environment entails a vertical and horizontal deficiency in the endentulous ridge. Often, bone and soft tissue surgical procedures fall short of achieving a natural esthetic result. Alternative surgical and restorative protocols for these types of prosthetic gingival restorations are presented in this three-part series, which highlights the diagnostic and treatment aspects as well as the lab and maintenance challenges involved.

Timing, Positioning, & Sequential Staging in Esthetic Implant Therapy

Timing, Positioning, & Sequential Staging in Esthetic Implant Therapy
Many articles address the predictability of immediate implant placement into extraction sockets; however, there are only a few reports that mention the indications and limitations of this technique. The aim of this article is to re-examine specific indications for immediate implant placement and to clarify the timing or “fourth dimension” relative to extraction and implant placement. The expanded concept of four-dimensional implant treatment planning involves the new axis of time, which must be…
