Extraction Site Management: Technical Aspects and Biologics

Description:
In this lecture and video case report, “conservative” management of posterior maxillary extraction sites are highlighted featuring new tools, techniques and biologics. How to extract teeth to preserve the socket environment using piezosurgery and extractor instruments is followed by simplified grafting with a synthetic bone substitute and biologic seal. After 4 months, the video 2nd surgery is clearly displayed with flap reflection, bone assessment and implant placement in a conservative staged approach. This is followed by final suturing using a running mattress.

Dr. Salama, I´ll only change the time of flap release, former to the augmentation with biomaterials. In that way I ll´ be able to do that procedure in an easier manner, without having extreme care with the biomaterials, ensuring the tension free procedure before augmentation. Excellent presentation.

Thank you Felicia and Wahib. Staged therapy and 4 months seems to be very conservative but also very effective.

I can see? I am "free""

Dear Dr.Salama, Thanks for a Great vedio,I always let one of my staff do the extraction ,then I continue ,but your motivating presentation will get me back to extraction applying your non traumatic approach. Our problem that our patients would love to have extraction and implant at same visit. How I can motivate them to have it in two stages. Best regards. Wahib

Abdusalam; Many thanks. We use both products here in our office with very similar results. Good luck. Dr. Salama

Modern Implant Dentistry: Rules of Engagement in the Esthetic Zone - Part 1 of 2
This presentation will focus on the interdisciplinary relationship of the restorative dentist, periodontist and orthodontist to reconstruct the soft tissue foundation for all of these restorative options in anterior tooth replacement. The diagnosis of deficiencies as well as the varied treatment options will be discussed in detail. This includes periodontal crown lengthening, esthetic periodontal plastic soft tissue grafting procedures as well as prescription adjunctive orthodontic tooth movement to manipulate the soft tissue foundation prior to or subsequent with the restorative options of implants, bridges, or pontic replacement.

Bone Graft Solutions in the Treatment of a Defective & Deficient Ridges; Advantages of Combined Therapy
More patients are treated with implants than ever before. Unfortunately, many have insufficient bone available to support an implant prosthesis. This presentation describes the utilization of several different augmentation approaches for the severely resorbed ridge and dentally handicapped fully endentulous patient. Current concepts related to autogenous bone harvest, 3D bone augmentation combined with blood born bioactive modifiers and digital planning are defined. Video and high resolution images are utilized to further describe these approaches.

Bridging Clinical Skills and Practice Success in Periodontics and Implant Therapy Premium Member Content

Bridging Clinical Skills and Practice Success in Periodontics and Implant Therapy
Dental practice success requires a skill set with multiple facets, many of which fall outside of the clinical realm taught in dental schools and in many CE programs. This program is one a series that will address the "additional" skills and systems that are required to bridge clinical skills into practice success. The first skill set a successful practice must develop is an awareness of the major obstacles to patients accepting treatment and the systems that can be used to minimize those obstacles. Information from areas outside the dental profession can provide insight into the systems that can be used in dentistry to minimize case acceptance issues. The entire dental team needs to utilize the information in this program to get patients to support the optimal treatment options offered by highly skilled dentists.

Sinus Floor Augmentation With Simultaneous Implant Placement Using Choukroun’s Platelet-Rich Fibrin as the Sole Grafting Material: A Radiologic and Histologic Study at 6 Months
Sinus augmentation with simultaneous implant placement without bone graft material is a hotly debated technique. This technique could be improved and secured by the use of an autologous leukocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) (Choukroun’s technique) concentrate. The objectives of this study were to assess the relevance of PRF clots and membranes as the sole filling material during a lateral sinus lift with immediate implantation using radiologic and histologic analyses in a case series.

Socket Preservation to Gain

Socket Preservation to Gain
Tooth loss not only poses difficulty in mastication, it also involves the probable resorption of alveolar bone due to a loss of function and stimulation from the periodontal ligament fibers (PDL). Bone grafting at the time of tooth removal provides bone quantity and quality for future placement of dental implant(s). The challenge during this procedure—referred to as socket preservation—is maintaining the graft in place as well as providing a final working area with sufficient keratinized tissue…
