Description:
Soft tissue recession around teeth and implants is an epidemic problem in the field of dentistry. A predictable and long-term soft tissue augmentation outcome is primarily dependent on proper diagnosis, prognosis and treatment planning. Harvesting limitations of autogenous tissue from the palate represent a true challenge when treating patients with multiple recessions or gingival deformities around teeth and dental implants. The Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin (APRF) and injectable platelet-rich fibrin (iPRF) are promising tissue promoters that can be a suitable alternative option.

Thank you all for your comments. We used mainly periosteal elevator/VISTA surgical kit/tunneling instruments and 6.0 glycolon and 6.0 prolene sutures. Any instruments that will allow for atraumatic full thickness flap elevation will be sufficient. As far as long-term results, we have a 2D and 3D analysis in progress. Hope to share with you soon.

Platelet derived growth factors are now routinely utilized in reconstructive therapy. This presentation describes very detailed and evidence based guidelines for clinicians interested in enhancing their abilities in tissue engineering, especially as it relates to bone augmentation. Specifically, while successful bone augmentation requires the standard surgical parameters of space maintenance, low pressure on the grafts and tension-free flap closure, optimization of this goal requires management and enhancement of the local biological conditions with growth factors. Towards that end, platelet concentrates through the constant release of growth factors are able to promote and enhance new vascularization, provide plasma protein, normal lipidemia, as well as increased collagen and fibrin activity.

Socket Shield Technique is a concept in implant dentistry that utilizes the partial extraction therapy principles, with the goal of preserving the hard and soft tissues around the dental implants. It has been reported to be a very predictable therapy so far. The proper case selection is crucial for the success of the technique. In fact, it is very technique sensitive and requires an advanced level in implant dentistry. Although the technique has a high overall success rate, but long term studies and high evidence level researches are needed to support the proof of principle available. Surgical Crown Lengthening in a Population With Human Immunodeficiency Virus: A Retrospective Analysis
This report investigates the outcome of CLS procedures performed at an urban dental school in a population of individuals with HIV. Specifically, this retrospective clinical analysis evaluates the healing response after crown lengthening surgery (CLS). Of the 21 patients with HIV examined after CLS, none had postoperative complications, such as delayed healing, infection, or prolonged bleeding. Variations in viral load, CD4 cell count, smoking, platelets, and neutrophils did not impact surgical healing. In addition, variations in medication regimens (highly active anti-retroviral therapy; on pro-tease inhibitors; no medications had an impact. The results of this retrospective analysis show the absence of postoperative complications after CLS in this population with HIV. Additional investigation into this area will help health care practitioners increase the range of surgical services provided to this group of patients.
