Many dentists are frustrated they were taught to refer the most profitable procedures, such as orthodontics, to specialists. GPs can deliver excellent orthodontics, delighting their patients. Research confirms that a patient’s satisfaction with orthodontic care is universally good whether treated by a specialist or GP. This course highlights advantages GP offices have for providing orthodontics in our digital era using an orthodontic specialist driven collaborative platform. The course outlines a formalized method of support, communication and on-demand education. We provide easy to understand rules for the dentist to choose patients with the most predictable problems to treat.

An Orthodontist's Guide to Prescribing Conventional 2D and 3D CBCT Radiographs
Radiographic diagnosis is an important part of orthodontic treatment planning. 3D conebeam CT (CBCT) has advanced orthodontic care for many patients; however, it has not supplanted conventional two-dimensional radiographs which, when comparing equal levels of radiation, offer superior image quality. This Webinar explains when CBCT is indicated with/in place of 2D radiography and how to prescribe 2D and/or 3D x-ray on a patient-specific basis, thereby conforming to Federal guidelines mandating radiation levels 'as low as reasonably achievable' -- especially with regard to younger patients.

The Cad/Cam Technique: Does it Really Make a Difference in Adult Esthetic Orthodontics? Premium Member Content

The Cad/Cam Technique: Does it Really Make a Difference in Adult Esthetic Orthodontics?
Over the last couple of decades, Lingual Orthodontic treatments have dramatically risen in popularity due to the abundance of worldwide courses and conferences, the large variety of lingual brackets, the improvement in laboratory procedures, updated CAD-CAM technologies and the implementation of 30 years of experience. Yet, most clinicians still assert that the results are not predictable and not as good as seen with the buccal appliance. The reasons are multifactorial, but are mainly attributed to ignorance and the lack of knowledge of the biomechanics limitations of the orthodontic appliances and the importance of treatment planning. Various CAD-CAM techniques will be surveyed with numerous clinical cases.

Orthodontics vs Restorative Materials

Orthodontics vs Restorative Materials
Today's "cosmetically aware" adult patients are seeking out advice and opinions about oral/facial esthetics from dental professionals. Recently, many articles have been published about the "quick fixes" available in esthetic therapy. With the advent of next-generation restorative materials and the ability to predictably bond to remaining tooth structures, some authors advocate composite bonding or veneering of misaligned teeth, rather than orthodontic therapy. Composite bonding or veneering are…

Esthetics and Vertical Tooth Position: Orthodontic Possibilities
Throughout the 1990s, esthetic dentistry has become a prominent part of the treatment protocol of most dentists. Patients have become more conscious of the benefits of a beautiful smile and are willing to invest time and money to improve the appearance of their teeth. Many of these patients can be treated with routine restorative procedures (crowns, composites, laminates) to achieve the desired results. However, some patients have problems with tooth position that create significant discrepancies…

Are Contemporary Occlusion Concepts Valid In An Asymmetric World?
This study is focused on the statistical analysis of orthodontic symmetry based on pre-treatment evaluation of 121 randomly selected orthodontic patients using Anatomage 3D cephalometric Analysis of full volume (FFOV) CBCT images. Cephalometric measurements, linear and angular, were obtained from anthropologically recognized anatomical bilateral paired landmarks. Hub 3D diagnostic services performed 3D cephalometric analysis using for the study.
