In this situation, do we need to place implants in the inter-radicular bone or in one of the sockets measuring the length from the anterior implant? Thank you.

Stavros Kyritsis - (3/13/2010 12:50 AM)

Great presentation Dr Steigmann. How did this case go? What about the distal surface of the distal implant (4.7 10mm)? Did the collagen preserve the bone height or did you have some bone resorption?

Shambhvi Malik - (8/10/2009 3:20 AM)

what are your views on immediate or early loading of implants in the posterior mandible ???

It is best, if followed by progress notes and clinical photos and radiographs to concluson... at least for six months post op.

Digital Workflow for Anterior Implant Aesthetics
We have seen excellent results in the aesthetic zone when immediate implant placement techniques have been used. A review of the current literature reveals and confirms the re-education of mid-buccal facial recession is best when an immediate provisional is used. If we can digitize this information and create a crown-root form matrix, we can allow tissue to maintain the exact 3D position of the crown and root of the tooth that is to be replaced. A technique using "dicom" files and "STL" files of the original tooth-root will be demonstrated. This will allow ideal healing of the surrounding hard and soft tissues in for any implants restoration.

Implant Esthetics: Recognizing Pitfalls and How to Avoid Problems
In this Webinar on Implant Esthetics, Dr Stanley describes the "No Half Smiles" philosophy that he practices. An emphasis is placed on both the clinical and technical requirements necessary for delivering consistent successful esthetic results in everyday practice. In addition, several techniques are demonstrated to make patient management through this process more efficient. As Dr. Stanley states" the challenges of getting it right are many but avoiding complications is vital to the success of our daily practice.

Site Preparation & Osseodensification in Bone Management
Today's implant arena involves not only the understanding of procedures but also the science behind wound healing. Often new technologies and instrumentation evolves that have a significant impact on what we are able to do clinically. Piezosurgical devices, periotomes, osteotomes, hydraulic sinus devices, neurosurgical drills, and the "PET" (Partial Extraction Therapies) system are just a short list of those that have made surgery more efficient and less traumatic for our patients. Osseodensification is another concept that can be added to this long list. This lecture will speak about new age bone management concepts and how these technologies may be able to assist us. Potential issues and focus on use will be touched upon as well.

Long Term Follow-Up of Dental Implants Placed in Autologous Onlay Bone Graft

Long Term Follow-Up of Dental Implants Placed in Autologous Onlay Bone Graft
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of autologous intraoral onlay bone grafting (OBG) in correlation with long-term survival rates of dental implants placed in the augmented bone. A retrospective study was conducted on 214 patients who received a total of 633 dental implants placed in 224 autologous intraoral block OBG augmentations, combined with Bio-Oss – mixed with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and covered by platelet-poor plasma (PPP) – as scaffold, with a follow-up time up to 137 months. We suggest that augmentation of severely atrophied jaw bone through the placement of horizontal and/or vertical intraoral OBGs in combination with Bio-Oss saturated with PRP and covered by PPP should be considered a reliable, safe, and very effective surgical technique for obtaining high bone graft survival rate and high long-term implant survival rate.

Implant Site Preparation with Motorized Bone Expanders

Implant Site Preparation with Motorized Bone Expanders
The osteotome technique has been utilized for many years as a viable approach to expand atrophic ridges. Despite its effectiveness, the mechanical impact from the surgical mallet is not well tolerated by patients. Additionally, reports in the literature describe postoperative complications that include concussions and benign paroxysmal vertigo. These conditions can be alarming for the patient and clinician, as their effects may persist for several weeks. A new technique for atraumatic ridge expansion…
