Integration of 3D Digital Technology: The Advancements in Today’s Dentistry

Description:
In today’s world of digital dentistry with the advent of new technologies to the field, the clinician finds himself daily in front of a vast array of new materials, hardware and software, which necessitates their comprehension and use to ride the wave of digital technologies in dentistry which is mounting into a tsunami. So in this Webinar Dr. Gamil will discuss the concept of Total digital solution, and how to understand, integrate and implement it in everyday practice, starting with the phase of scanning: CBCT, Intraoral or in lab optical scanners, face photos, digital models, impression scans and their integration. Then going through the phase of planning using the acquired data using specialized software, showing the added benefit and amazing potentials and ending with the different type of manufacturing such as: 3D printing, Laser sintering, Milling and their applications and how this pool forms together what we call the total digital solutions and how to be familiar with the workflow, implement and ride this wave of tomorrow becoming a reality today.

Excellent Presentation,well done Dr. Rami

Dear Band: 1-The accuracy of CBCT units in term of geometric resolution is measured in voxel size and it varies from 90 micrometer (0.09mm) up to 600 micrometer (0.6mm) and this differs from one manufacturer to another and according to the field of view used. Machines having special modes to scan models or impressions to digitize them can have smaller voxel size some say 50-70 microns. 2- Each 3D software has its advantages according to the specific application needed like implantology, Endodontics, ENT, Airway Analysis, Orthodontics, guided surgery etc... some software are more equipped for certain functions more than the others, it depends on what do you want to use it for. 3-As for the HU in CBCT , it is agreed thus far the they generate "pseudo-HU" or grey levels and not true ones, some research work is done to derive HU from CBCT grey levels by conversion ratios or algorithms like :"Deriving Hounsfield units using grey levels in cone beam computed tomography P Mah, TE Reeves and WD McDavid" It is a big topic both in discussion and research. Hope i answered all your questions.

Band Ditto64 - (10/3/2013 7:35 AM)

Dr. Gamil; What is the accuracy of CBCT conebeam units in general? What is the best 3D software you have used? What is the accuracy of hounsfield units for bone density evaluation? thanks Band

Rami Gamil - (10/3/2013 3:06 AM)

Thanks all for your kind words, and I would be glad to answer any questions related to the topic. Best!

In this presentation, we will analyze different cases, highlighting the operational differences that they have developed over time, with the increasing knowledge of the new materials and the daily developing of the new software's. It is also described how traditional materials and techniques have been replaced with other innovative new technologies, and how the results obtaining with these are systematic and overlapping times better than traditional one.

Facial Rejuvenation: Using Botox & Fillers as Support of the Oral Rehabilitation & Lips Enhancement
In general the population have been associating the use of Botox & Fillers just as an aesthetic treatment on the derm to avoid wrinkles of aging. It is very important to understand that the Onabotulinum toxin A will take effect in the muscular plane, not in the epiderm and neither in the derm, its actuation is to block the release of a neurotransmitter necessary for muscles contraction. The result will be the inhibition of undesirable movements and reduction of strength and potency on the muscles, what can help on the treatment of parafunctional disorders and also improve the conditions for immediate loading in implant dentistry. The Dental losses, alveolar ridge atrophies and loss of vertical dimension contribute significantly to the aging process of the face and the perioral region, so it is essential for dentists to have the knowledge of the use of fillers in association with oral rehabilitation, improving the aesthetics and self-esteem of their patients.

Bridging Clinical Skills and Practice Success in Periodontics and Implant Therapy Premium Member Content

Bridging Clinical Skills and Practice Success in Periodontics and Implant Therapy
Dental practice success requires a skill set with multiple facets, many of which fall outside of the clinical realm taught in dental schools and in many CE programs. This program is one a series that will address the "additional" skills and systems that are required to bridge clinical skills into practice success. The first skill set a successful practice must develop is an awareness of the major obstacles to patients accepting treatment and the systems that can be used to minimize those obstacles. Information from areas outside the dental profession can provide insight into the systems that can be used in dentistry to minimize case acceptance issues. The entire dental team needs to utilize the information in this program to get patients to support the optimal treatment options offered by highly skilled dentists.

Prosthodontic treatment ofthe edentulous cleft palate patient presents the dentist with numerous challenges for achieving a satisfactory result for the patient. A technique is described for prosthodontic rehabilitation of a completely edentulous cleft palate patient using bone augmentation procedures, root-form dental implants, and a removable maxillofacial prosthesis. Dental implants may improve prosthesis retention, stability, and occlusal function when used in carefully selected cases.

Prosthetic Considerations with Periodontal Root Resective Therapy Part 2
The treatment of advanced furcation lesions may require the removal of a portion of the crown and its associated root, or resection of only one root from a multi rooted tooth. This resective-type of therapy is a definitive treatment because it predictably enables clinicians to better access the remaining tooth structure for periodontal and subsequent prosthetic therapy. The morphology of tooth preparation for hemisective periodontal therapy is critical to facilitate the patient's ability to perform…
