The loss of alveolar ridge contour in the esthetic zone compromises both esthetics and function. This clinical presentation will focus on the application of both hard and soft tissue grafting in the esthetic zone implementing state of the art interactive CT diagnosis and treatment planning for optimal esthetic implant reconstruction. More patients are treated with implants than ever before. Unfortunately, many have insufficient bone available to support an implant prosthesis. This presentation describes the utilization of several different augmentation approaches for the severely resorbed ridge and dentally handicapped fully endentulous patient. Current concepts related to autogenous bone harvest, 3D bone augmentation combined with blood born bioactive modifiers and digital planning are defined. Video and high resolution images are utilized to further describe these approaches.

Bone graft materials are critical to the success of dental implants when there is a need to increase the volume of bone in a defect. The surface properties of these graft materials will have a profound impact on the outcome of the graft procedure. The clinician has many choices of bone graft substitutes when augmenting bony deficits. Allograft bone is the most widely used class of bone graft substitutes. Within this class there are a number of different bone allografts, which are manufactured utilizing widely varying processing techniques. There also appears to be a wide range of results in the published literature across the spectrum of different bone allografts. This in-vitro study evaluated chemical and surface properties of five different commercially available mineralized bone allografts.

Guided Bone Regeneration Using a Titanium Membrane at Implant Placement: A Case Report and Literature Discussion
Reconstruction of the oral supporting tissues lost by disease or trauma is essential to tooth replacement with dental implant therapy. This treatment requires evidence based augmentative procedures combined with up-to-date and current techniques. Guided bone regeneration (GBR) aims to initialize this process of alveolar ridge reconstruction by utilizing biologically active and supportive materials best coupled to the body’s healing processes. The use of nonresorbable, titanium membranes can achieve GBR by ensuring graft stability and space maintenance so as to ensure optimal neovascularization. Hereafter is a case report of a ridge defect reconstructed at implant placement, with the rationale and current, evidence-based literature discussed.
