The FP-3 “Implant Supported Hybrid" has proven to be an exceptional and highly specialized treatment option for patients with non restorable teeth or existing edentulism. The use of zirconia provides the ultimate outcome bringing with it a new standard of esthetics, function and, when done well, a long lasting prosthesis. This presentation will stress the importance of treatment planning, CAD CAM technology, and the all important need for the laboratory technician’s human touch. Surgical aspects, provisonalization during healing, and management of soft tissue are important components. The protocol for final fabrication of the FP-3 all zirconia prosthesis is detailed along with a description of this exciting new technology.

What a great material and a very nice presentation. Super informative. Thank you Dr Pearson for openly showing your 1st attempt of the "mediocre result" with it's challenges and then comparing it with the world class ceramic hybrid from Mr Adar. I'll be looking for future Prettau (FP-3) case presentations.

Thank you for a wonderful presentation and beautiful result. The prototype PMMA is such and invaluable tool to be able to work out any issues in a forgiving material before committing ro the zirconina. Digital copy milling is then very easy. I would like to ask you opinion as to the use of an abutment in a large case like this vs connecting directly to the fixture. Do you feel certain a passive fit is achieved with an internal connection fixture without the use of an abutment such as a "multi-platform" or Uni-abutment? The interface without an abutment is internal and cannot be evaluated. If all the fixtures are perfectly parallel this is not an issue but that is not usually the case. Thus, a common path of insertion comes from an abutment that then gives one the abilty to evaluate the passive fit of the restoration. Thank you for sharing this beautiful result.

CBCT in Endodontics: Changing the Landscape of Diagnosis and Clinical Treatment
Radiographic imaging is essential in the diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up in endodontics. The interpretation of an image can be confounded by a number of factors, including the regional anatomy as well as superimposition of both the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. As a result of superimposition, periapical radiographs reveal only limited aspects, a 2-dimensional view, of the true three dimensional anatomy. Additionally, there is often geometric distortion of the anatomical structures being imaged with conventional radiographic methods. These problems can be overcome by utilizing small or limited volume cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging techniques which produce accurate 3-dimensional images of the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. This presentation will highlight the indications, advantages and considerations of the use of CBCT in endodontics.

“The Full Arch Patient”; A Fully Digital Affair
Guided Surgery (GS) is a concept where you are guided by the rehabilitation needs of your patient to perform the implant surgery procedure based on all the info that we process via planning software that are loaded with digital files coming from intra-oral scanning (IOS) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). After planning the case, we print a surgical guide or stent to perform the surgery, this technique allows us to do it flap or flapless in a complete secure environment, quicker and more precise if we compare to "freehand" surgery. However, we have to be careful because not all the systems are the same; those who use scoops as reductors are less precise than the "scoopless", no matter which system we use we have to be clear to understand that all the classic concepts of osseointegration are not erased by guided surgery, especially bone physiology.

Effectiveness of a Super-Pulsed CO2 Laser For Removal of Biofilm From Three Different Types of Implant Surfaces: An In Vitro Study
As dental implants become a routine part of dental practice, so too will the prevalence of peri-implant diseases. Inherent to the treatment of peri-implant disease is the removal of microbial biofilms from the implant surface. Currently, there is no standardized protocol for application of any treatment modality directed at implant surface decontamination. In this in vitro study, we report on the effectiveness of a super-pulsed CO2 laser, delivering an average fluence of 6.3 to 113 J/cm2, to remove biofilm from three different types of implant surface topographies. Biofilms ranged in thickness from 5 to 15 μm. An average fluence of 19 J/cm2 was sufficient to achieve 100% ablation of the biofilm on hydrophilic sandblasted and acidetched surface specimens (SA). However, to achieve 100% ablation of biofilm on HA and highly crystalline, phosphate enriched titanium oxide (PTO) surfaced implants required an average fluence of 38 J/cm2.
