EXCELLENT PRESENTATION.THANKS DR PIKOS

kozhaya Assaker - (1/13/2012 8:08 PM)

Well done Dr Pikos. What do you think of reusing the bone removed as a barrier and regular collagen membrane on top ?

ali afshar - (5/1/2011 3:48 PM)

I have watched this surgery a couple of times and I learn some thing new every time. ALI

Excellent presentation as usual coming from Dr. Pikos I do use the SLA kit from Neobiotech instead of the round bur and have found to be fast and very safe besides they do provide with small sinus lifts instrumentsto use to reflect the membrane.

Michael McClure - (8/26/2010 6:50 AM)

Excellant presentation. Clear and concise.

Maurice Salama - (7/14/2010 8:57 AM)

Danny;
I have the Neobiotech SCA kit and it works great. It is a Neurosurgical bur used on high torque that removes bone but does not damage soft tissue or the Schniderian Membrane. It takes little time to access the Sinus safely. As for the tacks, I don't remove them unless needed or if I need to perform a secondary procedure.

When do you remove the tacks. I found an SCA kit on Neobiotech site that describes a drilling tool that won't tear the Schneiderian membrane.

Emerging Concepts in Sinus Augmentation; Atraumatic and Efficient Crestal and Lateral Access Techniques
This presentation will highlight through in depth clinical case documentation, the new and evolving role of instrumentation for access to the Sinus for Bone Augmentation. Efficiency and minimally invasive approaches which increase success and minimize complications will be highlighted. Posterior Maxillary reconstruction often involves Sinus Augmentation and Implants then inserted into the grafted site. A knowledge of useful and clinically manageable techniques that provide access but minimize large surgical flaps and sinus membrane perforations are keys to success.

Healing in Smokers Versus Nonsmokers: Survival Rates for Sinus Floor Augmentation with Simultaneous Implant Placement
Evidence suggests that smoking is detrimental to the survival of dental implants placed in grafted maxillary sinuses. Studies have shown that improving bone quantity and quality, using rough- surfaced implants, and practicing good oral hygiene may improve outcomes. In this prospective study, the long-term survival rates of implants placed simultaneously with sinus grafting in smokers and non- smokers were compared.
