Joseph; Yes. Part 1 should be out in July issue of Compendium of Continuing Education while Part 2 and 3 will be early next year in IJPRD. Keep an eye out for them and thanks. Regards Dr. Salama

I'm an OMS in Mountain View California and I attended the Synergy conference in Orlando last year. You had mentioned a 50 patient study that yourself and Dr.Tarnow had done that was not yet published but was going to be by years end or early 2012. Where can I access that article? Thanks, Joe Kim

Spyridon Gialidis - (10/23/2011 9:57 AM)

Just wanted to say thank you to all our members that joined Mike Pikos and I for yesterday's Grafting Webinar. Over 700 members from over 60 countries. Amazing! Those who missed it, keep an eye out for the rebroadcast coming soon. Remember Synergy LIVE in Orlando, Florida is June 9-12th!! If you are interested go to www.partnersinsynergy.com to register. Dentimp; If it is only a "plug" then yes, it will necrose and function as only a "seal" for the socket graft. But if it is a full CTG that wraps underneath the labial and palatal flaps, then it should survive as it gets it's blood supply from the flaps and periosteum.
Dr. S

dentimp huang - (12/22/2010 10:40 AM)

Dr.S and Dr.P : Where is the blood supply from ? I mean the FGG/CTG over the extraction socket , will thay get necrosis in the early days?

Maurice Salama - (9/29/2010 6:16 AM)

Naresh; Thank you. The Essix is tolerated quite well as it is similar to an Invisalign Tray currently worn on both arches by many orthodontic patients. It is sold by Raintree a Dentsply company. Use the .035 material thickness. good luck Dr. Salama

Naresh Patel - (9/29/2010 3:46 AM)

Hi Maurice/Mike, great presentation guys. Ive just got a quick question re: the essix retainer temporary prosthesis, which seems a great idea. However, as they cover the occlusal surfaces of all the teeth on the arch, what is the protocol/tollerance with respect to its use during function?

ANYTIME Immediate Loading Utilizing a Minimally Invasive Approach in Posterior Maxilla
This lecture will highlight a modified approach to the management of the posterior maxilla using a minimally invasive approach to sinus lift and augmentation. It will also focus on a modified implant placement protocol for obtaining and maintaining the ideal primary and secondary stability for immediate loading in the maxillary unilateral posterior area. The long term clinical results of the over 97% success rate for that protocol will be shown. In this lecture, new guidelines and factors for the successful anytime loading in the unilateral posterior maxilla will be discussed.

Surgical Management of Posterior Maxilla Premium Member Content

Surgical Management of Posterior Maxilla
Replacement of missing teeth with dental Implants in the posterior maxilla presents unique challenges due to maxillary sinus, less quality of bone, and increased occlusal load. The surgical objectives to meet functional and aesthetic goals include enhancement of both quantity and quality of bone as well as ideal placement of dental implants for restorations that mimic nature. In this presentation, Dr. H. Ryan Kazemi discusses current surgical techniques in implant site development in the posterior maxilla including extraction site grafting, sinus lift, bi-directional bone graft, and osseodensification for bone management.

This presentation will focus on the interdisciplinary relationship of the restorative dentist, periodontist and orthodontist to reconstruct the soft tissue foundation for all of these restorative options in anterior tooth replacement. The diagnosis of deficiencies as well as the varied treatment options will be discussed in detail. This includes periodontal crown lengthening, esthetic periodontal plastic soft tissue grafting procedures as well as prescription adjunctive orthodontic tooth movement to manipulate the soft tissue foundation prior to or subsequent with the restorative options of implants, bridges, or pontic replacement.

Immediate Implant Placement into Extraction Sockets with Labial Plate Dehiscence Defects: A Clinical Case Series

Immediate Implant Placement into Extraction Sockets with Labial Plate Dehiscence Defects: A Clinical Case Series
To measure the buccal plate reconstruction of extraction sockets with labial plate dehiscence defects using a bone allograft in combination with an absorbable collagen membrane and a custom-healing abutment at the time of tooth removal. Implants placed into sockets with labial plate dehiscence defects demonstrated radiographic reformation of the labial plate dehiscence defect at 6 to 9 months post-treatment. The net gain in labial plate on CBCT in L1 and L2 was 3.0 mm, where 0 mm existed at pre-treatment. The minimum amount of labial plate thickness of 2.0 mm was achieved in all treated sites, evaluated radiographically at 6-9 months post-operatively, in a single procedure, without flap elevation and maintaining the gingival architecture and satisfactory esthetics.

The Bio-Derm Ridge Plumping Technique for Pontic Site Development

The Bio-Derm Ridge Plumping Technique for Pontic Site Development
Seibert Class III apicocoronal and buccolingual alveolar ridge defects with associated gingival mucosal atrophy and absence of interdental papillae are common in edentulous areas within the anterior esthetic zone of the maxilla. Normal emergence profiles, critical to achieving esthetic restorations, require restoration of normal hard and soft tissue morphology, including re-establishment of adjacent interdental papillae.
