Course Description:

Dentists often rely on extrapolation from laboratory to clinical findings to predict the clinical behavior of dental adhesives. This lecture will give an overview of current adhesion strategies, respective advantages and disadvantages, and recommendations to optimize the application of recent universal adhesives. An evidence-based approach will highlight the myths and facts related to the interpretation of data from systematic reviews of clinical studies and a few laboratory studies.

  • 1) Give an overview of the science and current adhesion strategies in clinical practice.
  • 2) Introduce an evidence-based approach highlighting the myths and facts related to the interpretation of data from systematic reviews of clinical studies in adhesive science.
  • 3) Provide the respective advantages and disadvantages as well as recommendations to optimize the application of recently introduced universal adhesives.
