Course Description:
Everyone, not just healthcare professionals, is discussing infection control due to recent outbreaks. Therefore, keeping up is of vital importance. However, the source must also be reliable. View a four-part seminar series on a highly reliable but practical way to wisely choose and then utilize therapeutic agents as dental professionals, showing actual case-by-case prescriptions/uses. Presented by Dr. Peter Jacobsen, PhD, DDS, an oral medicine clinic director, Diplomate of American Board of Oral Medicine, and author of the Dental Drug Booklet. Correct use of antibiotics is fully discussed as well as alternative methods of oral bacterial infection control; latest anti-fungals and anti-virals are also included.
Learning Objectives:
- To understand oral infections, bacterial, fungal, and viral, as well as how treat them wisely, using therapeutic agents only when necessary and using alternative methods of treatment.
- To manage orofacial infections to rule out dental infections by looking closely at the history of the patient.
- To know what to include for the prescription/utilization for these agents based on the actual case presented.
