Integrating Orthodontics with Orthognatic Surgery; From Virtual Planning to Clinical Excellence
Dentofacial deformities in adults require the combination and skills of the orthodontist and maxillofacial surgeon. In order to achieve all the functional and esthetic goals. In digital dentistry’s days virtual planning of orthodontics and orthognatic surgical corrections has become a valuable tool. Results can be compared to planning both for reevaluation and sharing information with colleagues and our patients. Virtual planning account for more reliable and precise results in our orthognatic surgery. Orthodontic preparation is the gold standard for maximizing the surgical correction. Cases will illustrate our treatment protocol from A to Z for these complex and challenging situations.

Orthodontic Management of Impacted Teeth
Over the last 25 years we have managed different clinical situations that include every tooth in the mouth that can be impacted on an orthodontic patient. We will focus the webinar both on mucogingival considerations as well as orthodontic biomechanics. Impacted teeth can be a challenge and can make a treatment last longer. We will show a logic approach to these situations. That produces good stability, periodontal health and relative short treatment time.

GPs: Best Suited to Deliver Orthodontics?
Many dentists are frustrated they were taught to refer the most profitable procedures, such as orthodontics, to specialists. GPs can deliver excellent orthodontics, delighting their patients. Research confirms that a patient’s satisfaction with orthodontic care is universally good whether treated by a specialist or GP. This course highlights advantages GP offices have for providing orthodontics in our digital era using an orthodontic specialist driven collaborative platform. This webinar outlines a formalized method of support, communication and on-demand education. We provide easy to understand guidelines for the dentist to choose patients with the most predictable problems to treat.

Ortho/Perio Treatment on Impacted Upper Central Incisors Premium Member Content

Ortho/Perio Treatment on Impacted Upper Central Incisors
Upper central incisor impaction has functional, esthetic and psychologic implications. Causes of the impaction can be divided in obstructive and traumatic. Among the first ones are: supernumerary teeth, odontomas and mesiodens. Among the second group are facial trauma received in the primary or early mixed dentition. In close relation as well with root dilaceration. Other less common reasons for impaction include: crowding, endocrine alterations, bone diseases, genetic conditions, extraction or ankylosis of primary incisors. The impacted upper central incisor can be classified depending on: mesio-distal position, occluso-gingival position, midline angulation, degree of root formation. If early intervention is not enough. There is the need for surgical exposure and orthodontic traction. Among possible treatment complications are: esthetic gingival sequelae, ankylosis and root resorption

The Complete Esthetic Analysis: Macro-Mini-and Microesthetics
In restorative dentistry, esthetics is evaluated in terms of anterior tooth display and smile design. For orthodontists and oral surgeons, the focus is on the facial profile. Interdisciplinary treatment in dentistry has progressed enormously in the past two decades, with collaboration among dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons resulting in vastly superior results compared to those achieved working without collaboration. But our vision can, and should, still expand to broader appearance issues. With the assessment and treatment of other dimensions of the smile and facial esthetics, the target is the ultimate dentofacial esthetic outcome. This lecture will demonstrate the coordination of care between the disciplines of dentistry and facial plastic surgery, resulting in gratifying enhancement of our esthetic and functional results.

The Cad/Cam Technique: Does it Really Make a Difference in Adult Esthetic Orthodontics?
Over the last couple of decades, Lingual Orthodontic treatments have dramatically risen in popularity due to the abundance of worldwide courses and conferences, the large variety of lingual brackets, the improvement in laboratory procedures, updated CAD-CAM technologies and the implementation of 30 years of experience. Yet, most clinicians still assert that the results are not predictable and not as good as seen with the buccal appliance. The reasons are multifactorial, but are mainly attributed to ignorance and the lack of knowledge of the biomechanics limitations of the orthodontic appliances and the importance of treatment planning. Various CAD-CAM techniques will be surveyed with numerous clinical cases.

Orthodontics Has Changed…What Does That Really Mean to the Dental Team?
The objective of this presentation is to demonstrate the similarities and such things as smile design, but to take you to another level of facial, smile, and dental esthetic planning that elevates what you are able to offer your patients to a most rewarding plateau. Dr. Sarver will demonstrate the coordination of Macroesthetics (the face), Miniesthetics (the smile) and Microesthetics (the dental esthetic component) for a complete approach to esthetic planning. In addition, understanding how the skeletal, dentoalveolar and soft tissue changes over time gives you a great advantage in the attainment of the type of outcomes that you cannot realize without this style of interdisciplinary approach and achieve Esthetics for a Lifetime.

Expanding on Transverse Diagnosis and Maxillary Expansion
Transverse dimension diagnosis and treatment is the base for sagital and vertical corrections. Most precise diagnosis on maxillary transverse deficiency is obtained through the CBCT. Miniscrew assisted rapid maxillary expansion (Marpe) or Surgical assisted maxillary expansion are the procedures of choice in skeletal mature patients presenting maxillary transverse deficiencies. Protocols with most common type of expander will be ilustrated through clinical cases. Long term periodontal health and airways are addressed as part of this lecture.

Radiographic diagnosis is an important part of orthodontic treatment planning. 3D conebeam CT (CBCT) has advanced orthodontic care for many patients; however, it has not supplanted conventional two-dimensional radiographs which, when comparing equal levels of radiation, offer superior image quality. This Webinar explains when CBCT is indicated with/in place of 2D radiography and how to prescribe 2D and/or 3D x-ray on a patient-specific basis, thereby conforming to Federal guidelines mandating radiation levels 'as low as reasonably achievable' -- especially with regard to younger patients.

While traditional 2D radiography has been said to show less than 50% of the anatomy of alveolar bone, the arrival of CBCT technology for practicing orthodontists has given practitioners the ability to completely view and study this area with respect to tooth movement. An update on the related research will introduce this topic with a specific emphasis on the accuracy, application and importance of this radiological advancement followed by the presenter's own protocols for patient diagnosis and treatment methods. Case presentations will be used throughout the lecture to highlight the clinical significance of using CBCT in Orthodontics to anticipate and assess the periodontal consequences of tooth movement.
