Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy: Decision Making in the 21st Century
Non-surgical periodontal therapy is a vital part of everyday dental practice. Since the majority of periodontal therapy is performed by general dentists and dental hygienists, it is critical that clinicians have all of the requisite skills and information needed to perform these services at the highest level possible. The purpose of this presentation is to provide the latest evidence- and practice- based information on periodontal debridement and adjunctive therapies that can improve patient outcomes. Though surgical procedures may still need to be performed in some sites, the majority of inflammatory periodontal disease can be eliminated or reduced significantly using the techniques and protocols discussed in this educational segment on non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Occlusion - What Else? Premium Member Content

Occlusion - What Else?
Occlusion-Confusion, most of the dentist feel this way. Occlusion is one of the most important part of dentistry but also the most controversy. The balance and the restore of function of the stomatognathic system is often an everyday challenge during most dental treatments. For these two distinct reasons the dentist needs to study and fully understand the normal function of the TMJoints, understand how the mandible rests against the cranium in a most favourable position, and of course how occlusion and any dental prosthetic restorations should be adjusted without jeopardising the stability of the stomatognathic system.

Biofunctional Dynamic Occlusion
Biofunctional Dynamic Occlusion is a comprehensive approach between occlusion, posture, and function. Overall, this lecture will create an understanding and relationship between the cervical spine and mandibular movements and the trilogy between Joints, Muscles and Occlusion. Most of the patients that we treat for dysfunction, were compromised during the early stages of growth and development. Overtime these created accommodations and compensations in the system induced by the physiology of the airway.

Reopening the Dental Office in the Covid-19 World
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic sent the world into a situation that was unknown for 100 years and in many countries dental offices were shut down or reduced to emergency settings. However Germany left dental offices open and unrestricted during the outbreak. Dentists in Germany were unsure how to handle the situation. The TroeltzschBrothers published a survey of the data first on the 25th of march that showed ways how to perform dentistry with the danger of Covid-19, including hygiene rules and a guide how to properly use the surgical mask. This summary spread around the world and was translated into several languages. They also have been present in multiple webinars. In this lecture, Dr. Markus Troeltzsch gives an insight into the disease and its spread, how dentists can work with the menace of this virus and shows ways how to practice. The literature is critically reviewed and the efficiency of dental protection techniques is demonstrated.

Facial Rejuvenation: Using Botox & Fillers as Support of the Oral Rehabilitation & Lips Enhancement Premium Member Content

Facial Rejuvenation: Using Botox & Fillers as Support of the Oral Rehabilitation & Lips Enhancement
In general the population have been associating the use of Botox & Fillers just as an aesthetic treatment on the derm to avoid wrinkles of aging. It is very important to understand that the Onabotulinum toxin A will take effect in the muscular plane, not in the epiderm and neither in the derm, its actuation is to block the release of a neurotransmitter necessary for muscles contraction. The result will be the inhibition of undesirable movements and reduction of strength and potency on the muscles, what can help on the treatment of parafunctional disorders and also improve the conditions for immediate loading in implant dentistry. The Dental losses, alveolar ridge atrophies and loss of vertical dimension contribute significantly to the aging process of the face and the perioral region, so it is essential for dentists to have the knowledge of the use of fillers in association with oral rehabilitation, improving the aesthetics and self-esteem of their patients.

CBCT in Endodontics: Changing the Landscape of Diagnosis and Clinical Treatment
Radiographic imaging is essential in the diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up in endodontics. The interpretation of an image can be confounded by a number of factors, including the regional anatomy as well as superimposition of both the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. As a result of superimposition, periapical radiographs reveal only limited aspects, a 2-dimensional view, of the true three dimensional anatomy. Additionally, there is often geometric distortion of the anatomical structures being imaged with conventional radiographic methods. These problems can be overcome by utilizing small or limited volume cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging techniques which produce accurate 3-dimensional images of the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. This presentation will highlight the indications, advantages and considerations of the use of CBCT in endodontics.

The Aesthetic Cad/Cam Interface
Computer aided design and computer aided manufacture has been involved in Dentistry for many years. Since the 1980’s we have been trying to produce in-surgery porcelain restorations with considerable variation in success. Common criticisms of this technique have been poor fits, poor aesthetics and poor occlusal control. Dr Julian Caplan has been involved in developing techniques utilizing this constantly changing technology to overcome these short falls. He has now reached a position where he is able to create beautiful, well fitting multiple restorations that allow proper functional control and he achieves this in a single day. This lecture will concentrate on Cerec technology and how he has utilized this over the last 10 years to producing highly aesthetic smile makeovers in a day.

Digital Restorative Technologies, Implants, Aesthetics and Occlusion
CAD/CAM technology has the advantage of reduced clinical chair-time and reduced laboratory costs. The accuracy of these techniques has improved to the point where they are now comparable to conventional techniques. This presentation will review the current technology which allows the fabrication of an implant abutments through streamlined digital fabrication, that maximizes aesthetics and minimizes time and errors. In addition, this impression does not require the removal of the healing abutment. The fabrication of ceramic full coverage restorations and veneers, with an in-office technique, will also be demonstrated. Occlusion principles will be discussed as they relate to new materials and their application in private practice.

CBCT / CadCam Restorative Technologies in Clinical Dentistry
This lecture will provide you with the background information on the rapidly changing digital dental technologies that allow you to make enlightened decision on what to use and how to gain the greatest benefit when incorporated into your practice. Recent advances such as three-dimensional dental radiography with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), virtual dental implant planning, clinical execution with guided surgery and new computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology for the implant abutment and restoration all play a role in the success of modern implant dentistry. While the benefits of CBCT scans for treatment planning and fabrication of surgical guides is well understood, this lecture will also illuminate and clarify the inherent potential problems found in some imaging data.
