Biofunctional Dynamic Occlusion Premium Member Content

Biofunctional Dynamic Occlusion
Biofunctional Dynamic Occlusion is a comprehensive approach between occlusion, posture, and function. Overall, this lecture will create an understanding and relationship between the cervical spine and mandibular movements and the trilogy between Joints, Muscles and Occlusion. Most of the patients that we treat for dysfunction, were compromised during the early stages of growth and development. Overtime these created accommodations and compensations in the system induced by the physiology of the airway.

The Implant Supra-Crestal Complex: Building the Foundation for Long-Term Stable Results in Implant Therapy - Part 1 of 2 Premium Member Content

The Implant Supra-Crestal Complex: Building the Foundation for Long-Term Stable Results in Implant Therapy - Part 1 of 2
The lecture reveals recent evidence to identify the impact of design features on both short-term clinical outcomes, as well as on the long-term health of the peri-implant bone and soft tissues. Prosthetic-driven implant placement is the prerequisite for the proper design of the ISC, which in turn can indirectly influence the structure and dimensions of the peri-implant soft tissues. Design features of the implant-prosthesis abutment complex such as the Emergence Profile (EP), Emergence Angle (EA) and Cervical Margin (CM), as well as the design of the implant-abutment and abutment prosthesis junctions and their location in relation to the tissues of the ISC can have significant impact in the maintenance of stable and healthy peri-implant tissues in the long term.

Treating the Terminal Dentition: A Patient-Center Approach Premium Member Content

Treating the Terminal Dentition: A Patient-Center Approach
In patients with terminal dentition esthetic and functional replacement is a necessary objective, but no longer a sufficient-objective: nowadays, due to the clinical and extra clinical characteristics of these patients, management of the therapy is as important as its conclusion. Respect of the principle of autonomy, reduction of treatment length, simplification of surgical procedures and prosthetic management of implant immediate loading are the cornerstones of this philosophy and are the object of this lecture.

The Cycle of Tooth Preservation Via Stress-Reduced Direct Composite Restorations
This lecture will provide clinicians with an overview of differing biomimetic protocols and techniques to predictably restore the anterior and posterior dentition using a minimally invasive approach. Increasing interest has been developed on “Life-like” restorations also known as biomimetic restorations. These are either porcelain or resin based restoration that can be performed on the anterior and posterior areas of the mouth. They may adopt both an indirect and a direct technique. The common characteristic is that they are low stressed and highly bonded restorations able to reproduce the functional and optical characteristic of the natural dentition.

At-Home Bleaching: A 25-Year Retrospective Premium Member Content

At-Home Bleaching: A 25-Year Retrospective
The concept of at-home bleaching self-administered by the patient and supervised by the dentist became widely known in the profession about 25 years. At the time, little was known about bleaching except that application of a peroxide-based gel to the teeth could substantially lighten them in 4-6 weeks. Since then, a large volume of laboratory and clinical research have greatly expanded and enhanced our understanding of the process. This presentation provides a brief summary of what we have learned over the last 25 years, including how bleaching works and how long it lasts, safety issues, side effects such as tooth sensitivity, effects on teeth and materials, extended uses for bleaching, and over-the-counter options.

"Real World Cosmetic Dentistry", Design, Preparation, Completion, & Patient Impact

"Real World Cosmetic Dentistry", Design, Preparation, Completion, & Patient Impact
The clinician's role in cosmetic dentistry is to evaluate the patient dentally, facially & emotionally. The design of the smile creates the path and ideal communication between the doctor, patient and lab technician. It is this process that allows for precision in preparation of the teeth and staging the smile within the lip perimeter and face. Digital scanning and 3D software allows us to frame the smile and to communicate our design to the mouth. Minimally invasive procedures from tooth prep to gingivectomy to frame the tooth shapes and gingival margin to the lipline will be discussed. Provisionals allow us to test our design prior to lab processing the veneers and crowns for final insertion. This multimedia presentation will highlight these stages of design and preparation as well as the vitally important process of patient management and expectations. Video and high quality photos as well as step by step process and tips will be provided.
