Autologous Bone vs. Bioactive Modifiers/BMP-2: A Clinical Update in Bone Regeneration - Part 1 of 2
Description:
There are several techniques and materials available for implant site development. The choice may depend on a number of factors including size of the defect, osseous morphology, costs and surgeon or patient preferences. Autogenous bone has long been considered the gold standard of graft materials. The trend today is to reduce patient morbidity but still provide predictable outcomes. This lecture will discuss the use of autogenous bone versus using bioactive modifiers such as platelet concentrates, rhPDGF and rhBMP-2 as replacement for the need to harvest bone.

As always, I enjoyed hearing the scientific along with the clinical factors that create success in everyday practice. My two brothers and I owe our implant success to the Misch brothers completely. They both showed us the way to successful practices with minimal complication. Thank god we found his brother Carl and eventually Craig in the beginning of our search for a teacher in 1985.

Thank you David for the endorsement of the lecture - I created it special for the Dental XP meeting at NYU and the XP community. I appreciate the kind words from Dr. Kher - it was definitely a labor of love! Part 2 is more entertaining, I agree : )

I had the privilege of watching this presentation at the XP NYU symposium. Craig I've heard you so often over the years. But that day you were sublime. I wish all clinicians practicing regenerative procedures watch this 2 part video.

Dr Misch, this is a landmark elegant and sophisticated assessment of the convolution of regenerative techniques available to the clinician today .
An honest evaluative program presented with your unique ability to communicate the information and then the integrity we value.
An invaluable resource for clinically relevant decision making. . . . .
We ALL appreciate it no end .

Thank you for the kind comments D. Silva. I enjoyed your lecture and was impressed with the beautiful cases you showed. i look forward to crossing our paths again soon.

Dear prof Craig Misch,
I didn't have the opportunity to talk to you after our regeneration discussion following the lectures.
It was a real honor and privilege to share the podium with you.
You are not just a fantastic researcher, clinician and educator, but also a gentleman during the discussions.
I learned so much from you.
With all the respect
Robert

Managing Large Odontogenic Cysts; Decompression or Marsupialization Technique Part 2 of 2
Decompression and marsupialization are techniques used to reduce size of large odontogenic jaw cysts, hence making its complete removal and bone regeneration simpler, safer, and more predictable. In this video, Dr. H. Ryan Kazemi demonstrates a simple technique for decompression or marsupialization and provides a brief review of its application in management of odontogenic cysts

The Use of SonicWeld® Ultrasonically Fabricated Barriers for Enhanced Outcomes in Guided Bone Regeneration
KLS Martin has developed a unique bioresorbable guided bone regeneration barrier which can be molded into any desired three-dimensional form. Using a combination of thermoplastic and ultrasonic energies, these barriers have been successfully used to create the proper environment for both large lateral and vertical ridge augmentations for situations previously only treated with block grafting or distraction. This course will outline the basic science, clinical techniques and outcomes of the SonicWeld technique.

Is There One or More Reasons to Optimize the PRF & PRP Protocols? Future Trends in Dentistry, Orthopedics and Facial Aesthetics
The “Advanced” PRF (A-PRF) and “Injectable” PRF (I-PRF) protocols were designed with this new concept. Indications are numerous in all medical fields where we need regeneration: bone, cartilage, skin etc...
However, the use of growth factors is not a guarantee of long term stability, as they are active only at the beginning of the process. Numerous rules of tissue engineering have to be applied to maintain the regenerated bone through an adequate blood supply: this lecture is an enlightenment on the biological and mechanical conditions for long term stability of the bone: “grafted bone” or “bone around implants”.

Achieving Stable Esthetic Results with Implant Supported Restorations
We will discuss basic concept regarding immediate implant placement and guided bone regeneration procedure related to the esthetic zone before focusing on the soft tissue management. We will describe the prosthetic procedures which are performed before, during and after the surgical procedures. Provisional restorations, impression techniques, prosthetic profiles and restorative materials will be presented. The purpose of the presentation is to provide a check list that will guide the clinician developing a proper analysis and diagnosis for the successful esthetic result with implant supported restoration.
