Flowable Composite Versatility in Every Day Practice - Part 2

Description:
Although composite restorations are far superior to amalgam esthetically, they are technique sensitive and the number of steps involved in placing the restoration makes them more prone to operator error. The Holy Grail for dental manufacturers has long been a composite that combines low shrinkage with ease of placement resulting in faster restorations and lowered risk of sensitivity. In this webinar, Dr. Irvani will give an outline of both conventional and unconventional clinical applications of low shrink flowable composites in creating esthetic and durable restorations.

Thank you Dr.Irvani, can we use flowable composite in deep cavities under amalgam, what about the microleakage of this composite?would you please tell us how to use composite as direct veneer?

Ruslan Korobeinik - (4/15/2012 6:10 PM)

Thank you Dr Irvani! Seems like using flowable simplifies the whole composite placement procedure! Question: Do you use Linears? something like Vitrebond Plus or GC Fuji Liner & Base resin reinforced glass-ionomer material?

The Cycle of Tooth Preservation Via Stress-Reduced Direct Composite Restorations
This lecture will provide clinicians with an overview of differing biomimetic protocols and techniques to predictably restore the anterior and posterior dentition using a minimally invasive approach. Increasing interest has been developed on “Life-like” restorations also known as biomimetic restorations. These are either porcelain or resin based restoration that can be performed on the anterior and posterior areas of the mouth. They may adopt both an indirect and a direct technique. The common characteristic is that they are low stressed and highly bonded restorations able to reproduce the functional and optical characteristic of the natural dentition.

Successful Composite Resin Restorations - Part 1 of 2
Amalgam has been a durable successful dental restorative material; however this material has recently come under question due to its mercury content and disposal. Composite resin materials range from flowable to highly filled condensable type viscosities. There are many factors that influence the success of posterior composite resin restorations. This presentation will identify the factors that limit success (size, patient type, caries risk, shrinkage, curing light) and the materials that can be successfully used to restore posterior teeth. Beginning with flowable materials and their clinical application the presentation will discuss the open sandwich technique, use of flowable posterior restorations, sectional matrices and fluoride, calcium and phosphate releasing materials.

Clinical Tips for Posterior Composites
Despite the popularity of posterior composites, it is a topic that still creates questions and frustrations for many clinicians. Our goal is to place these restorations with ease and success to create long lasting results. We will discuss preparation design, material selection, matrices, and placement techniques. One of the most common questions I get is about predictably creating tight contacts, and we will look at several techniques to ensure this happens.

“Finally” - Predictable Indirect Conservative Posterior Restorations Premium Member Content

“Finally” - Predictable Indirect Conservative Posterior Restorations
Predictable and repeatable results can be achieved through materials and clinical practices that, on one hand, preserve the original structure of the compromised tooth and, on the other hand, involve a very low biologic price. New technologies for the enamel-dentin adhesion and the continuous evolution of more sophisticated esthetic materials (composite resins and porcelains) allow the effective reaching of verifiable and predictable results. Technologies and materials have to follow an operative approach that strictly involves operative steps which have been carefully codified referring to the materials typology used for time to time. This lecture aims to point out the relevant guidelines for obtaining predictable indirect posterior restorations through the evaluation of a correct biomechanical approach rather than giving just a “trendy” adhesive approach.
