The Hidden Value of Digital Radiography for Caries Detection

Description:
Digital radiography allows the dentist to use powerful image analysis tools to extract information from the image that might otherwise be missed by visual inspection alone. Historically interproximal caries detection is done by visually inspecting the radiograph for evidence of a radiolucency produced by the decay and visually determining if the decay is deep enough that a restoration is required. The webinar will cover the basic features of Logicon and how it works, our recommended protocol for using it, and its role in the treatment plan for the version (4.0) presently on the market, where the dentist selects the surfaces to analyze and initiates the analysis. The webinar will also describe a new version (5.0) presently under FDA review that raises digital caries detection to a new level where all the surfaces in a bitewing radiograph are analyzed automatically at one time to give the dentist (and patient) a more global view of the state of their teeth.

Band Ditto64 - (5/6/2013 3:33 PM)

Really great stuff but is it "overdiagnosing" caries?? How accurate is this? Has it been compared with other techniques? Band

Ronald Goldstein - (5/4/2013 1:07 PM)

David Great program...I worked with the technology when it was first developed over 20 years ago and so pleased to see it has just gotten better.

David Gakenheimer - (5/2/2013 1:30 PM)

Dr. Hasan Logicon (V4.0) works with all RVG radiographs. The new PreScan feature (in V5.0) only works with our latest sensors RVG 6500 and 6100. But all the other features in 5.0 still work with all RVG images.

David Gakenheimer - (5/2/2013 1:26 PM)

Dr. Tourne Logicon is presently designed to work only with 2D radiographs. We are looking at 3D applications for the future.

Colby Ledbetter - (5/1/2013 10:50 PM)

Great presentation, informative and useful.

Jalil Zhian - (5/1/2013 6:11 PM)

Very informative. Thank you !

Emerson Tourne - (5/1/2013 5:01 PM)

Exellent presentation just one question can we work this technique with 3D scan and move around the axis line tank you Dr Tourne

Arshad Hasan - (5/1/2013 1:57 PM)

excellent presentation. Dr Gekenheimer just one question though. I noticed you are using Kodak RVG 8100 with logicon. Can the previous models of RVG e.g. 5100 and others be used aswell??

Maurice Salama - (5/1/2013 12:07 PM)

Dental Ceramics: Material Properties and Clinical Applications - Part 2 of 3
This presentation will give viewers a background of the physical and mechanical properties of current dental ceramics. The material properties of the ceramics will be used to explain clinical recommendations for selecting a restorative material and designing the prosthesis. Additionally, laboratory research data will be presented to help the clinician determine the best method to cement or bond an all-ceramic restoration. Finally, an overview of laboratory fabrication of all-ceramic restorations will be presented in order to show clinicians their options when sending out a laboratory prescription.

Guided Preparations and the Future of Minimally Invasive Dentistry
An introduction to describe the use of digitally designed, 3D-printed guides to prepare teeth. This state of the arts technology allows dentists to efficiently prepare teeth and deliver the final restoration in one visit. The objective of this presentation is to provide the audience an introduction to with the advancement of 3D-printing in dentistry and it’s use as it pertains to restorative options. With computer aided procedures we can now digitally design and prepare 3D-printed guides to precisely prepare teeth and deliver the final restoration without the need for a temporary.

The Proof is in the Laboratory; A Maxillary Full Arch Implant Supported Zirconia Prettau Comparison
The FP-3 “Implant Supported Hybrid" has proven to be an exceptional and highly specialized treatment option for patients with non restorable teeth or existing edentulism. The use of zirconia provides the ultimate outcome bringing with it a new standard of esthetics, function and, when done well, a long lasting prosthesis. This presentation will stress the importance of treatment planning, CAD CAM technology, and the all important need for the laboratory technician’s human touch. Surgical aspects, provisonalization during healing, and management of soft tissue are important components. The protocol for final fabrication of the FP-3 all zirconia prosthesis is detailed along with a description of this exciting new technology.
